DESIGN
Once it has been confirmed that MCG is going to a new community, the Construction and Engineering Team works with Sales to determine community boundaries while considering the most efficient way to bring fiber to heavily dense areas in a community where residents and businesses are located. They then work hard to design the fiber paths throughout the community.
Contractors, City Officials, and MCG collaborate on the fiber design and build plan and submit it to the city for approval.
Once the build design is approved, MCG works to begin the fiber construction to that community.
CONSTRUCTION
MCG strives to provide advanced construction notifications by placing construction yard signs in the neighborhoods where work will begin.
The main fiber pathways are constructed at the distribution points located throughout the community.
Utility workers, Contracted Construction Companies, and MCG's Outside Plant Team arrive in your neighborhood to mark the locations of existing lines in preparation for construction.
MCG constructs the fiber path from the distribution points directly to utility easements in the neighborhood.
SPLICING
MCG's splicing team accesses each splice vault and structure throughout the community to fuse the individual fibers that will eventually connect to your home or business. Then we test the speed of light as it passes through the fiber to make sure your connection is GIG-fast.
MCG's splicing van will be parked near the vault in your neighborhood to separate the individual fibers that will eventually connect directly to your home or business.
The fiber gets tested to ensure a clean, continuous path for the light to travel down.
When splicing and testing are completed, the cables are sealed in an air-tight splice case and coiled back into the splice vault, ready for individual installations.
When splicing has started, MCG's Marketing and Sales Teamwork with our Customer Service Representative Team to communicate with all individuals who have pre-registered for MCG's services that service is available for installation. This is typically two weeks from the date splicing has started.
